Which IUD fits you?
Copper IUD (from €285): hormone-free, lasts 5–10 years, period often slightly stronger. Good if you want to avoid hormones and have a normal to light period.
Hormonal IUD (from €405): low-dose local hormone, lasts 5–8 years, usually makes period lighter or disappear. Good for heavy periods or PMS.

What you should know.
How does insertion work?
About 10–15 minutes. Disinfection, measurement, insertion, immediately afterwards the first ultrasound position check.
Does insertion hurt?
Brief, cramp-like pulling — comparable to strong period cramps. If needed, ibuprofen 1 hour before.
When is insertion possible?
During menstruation, ideally on the first 3–5 days. Cervix slightly open, pregnancy safely excluded.
What does the position check cost?
Approx. €50 — recommended approx. 6 weeks after insertion and then annually. Bookable online.
How safe is the IUD?
Pearl Index under 0.5 — safer than the pill. Position check recommended every 6–12 months by ultrasound.
