Also for hormonally driven acne where other routes are not enough — matched to your gynaecological history.

Collagen
the skin’s own regeneration

Very fine microneedles stimulate the skin’s own regeneration and collagen formation.

0
injections

Stimulating the body’s own hyaluronic acid production for more volume and firmness — without a syringe.

Who is this for?

01
For acne & acne scarring

Medical supervision rather than a beauty salon — with an eye on hormonal causes.

02
For pigmentation changes

Gentle resurfacing for a more even complexion.

03
Skin ageing

Ageing well, to us, means strengthening your skin rather than changing it.

04
How it is carried out

The temperature is monitored by the device throughout the treatment. Indication, consent and the treatment itself are handled by one of our doctors.

Self-pay service. One session for the face costs €500 including VAT. The price for smaller areas depends on the extent of treatment and is agreed in writing in advance. Three to four sessions four weeks apart are usual; how many make sense in your case is decided together in the consultation. You receive the written agreement with a cost breakdown before treatment begins. You can pay for each session individually or make an advance payment towards the series, which we offset against the individual invoices. Prices subject to change. Consultation appointments bookable from October 2026.

Evidence

Studies & effectiveness

Microneedling — particularly combined with radiofrequency — is among the better studied minimally invasive skin procedures. A selection:

Niaz et al. 2025 · systematic review

16 studies, 481 patients: radiofrequency microneedling effective as monotherapy for acne scarring, with mild and temporary side effects.

To the publication →

Tan et al. 2021 · critical review

42 controlled studies on radiofrequency microneedling: effective for skin rejuvenation, acne scarring and acne among others — and safe to use on darker skin types.

In context: results can vary from person to person, and these studies concern the method rather than the Exion system specifically. Whether the treatment suits your skin is something we establish beforehand.

Honestly: limits & requirements

What the treatment does not do

Microneedling with radiofrequency improves skin texture and firmness. It does not lift sagging tissue and is no substitute for surgery — anyone expecting a surgical-level lift will be disappointed, and we say so beforehand.

Deep acne scars require several courses, and some scarring will remain visible.

Afterwards the skin is red for one to three days, much like mild sunburn — consistent sun protection is essential during this time. Do not schedule the appointment right before an important occasion.

When we are not allowed to treat

Pregnancy and breastfeeding · acute skin infection or inflammation in the treatment area · active acne in the treatment area · tendency to keloid scarring · isotretinoin within the past six months · active cancer · blood clotting disorders · implanted electronic devices · recent tanning.

Usual course: three to four sessions four weeks apart. The result develops over several months — building collagen takes time.

Frequently asked questions about Exion

What does the treatment feel like?

You feel warmth and a fine pricking sensation. Before the treatment we apply a numbing cream that needs around 30 minutes to take effect. The treatment itself takes 20 to 40 minutes depending on the area.

How long will my skin stay red afterwards?

The skin is usually red for one to three days, much like mild sunburn, and sometimes slightly swollen. Consistent sun protection is essential during this time. Do not schedule the appointment right before an important occasion.

How many sessions, and what does it cost?

One session for the face costs €500 including VAT. Three to four sessions four weeks apart are usual. The price for smaller areas depends on the extent of treatment and is agreed in writing in advance. You can pay for each session individually or make an advance payment towards the series.

What do the studies say?

Radiofrequency microneedling is among the better studied minimally invasive skin procedures. A 2025 systematic review analysed 16 studies with 481 treated patients and found the method effective for acne scarring, with mild and temporary side effects. A 2021 critical review examined 42 controlled studies.

In context: these papers concern the method, not the Exion system specifically. How pronounced the result is depends on skin type, age and starting condition. We cannot promise you a particular outcome.

When will I see a result?

Building collagen takes time. The result develops over several months after the final session. Deep acne scars require several courses, and some scarring will remain visible.

Who carries out the treatment?

Indication, consent and the treatment itself are handled by one of our doctors. The temperature is monitored by the device throughout.

Who is the treatment not suitable for?

We are not allowed to treat during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with acute skin infection or inflammation in the treatment area, active acne in the treatment area, a tendency to keloid scarring, isotretinoin taken within the past six months, active cancer, blood clotting disorders, implanted electronic devices, or recent tanning.

Will my health insurance cover the cost?

No. This is a self-pay service without medical necessity in the insurers’ sense, and it is reimbursed by neither statutory nor private health insurance. The price includes statutory VAT.
