Accessibility Statement
We want this website to be usable by everyone — regardless of visual, hearing or motor impairments. This statement describes openly where we stand, and where we do not yet.
Scope
This statement applies to the website frauenaerztinnen-konstanz.de including all subpages, the embedded online reception and the online appointment booking.
Standard applied
We follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, conformance level AA, as required by the German Accessibility Strengthening Act (BFSG) and its associated regulation (BFSGV).
Current status
Partially conformant. The website largely meets level AA requirements. Some content is not yet fully accessible — we name it openly below rather than conceal it.
What is already in place
- All images have alternative text for screen readers.
- Decorative graphics are hidden from screen readers.
- All form fields are clearly labelled.
- The site is fully keyboard operable with a visible focus indicator.
- A skip link leads directly to the main content.
- Text contrast meets level AA in both light and dark mode.
- The page structure uses correct heading levels and landmarks.
- The page can be zoomed to 200 % without loss of function.
- Content in four languages (German, English, French, Italian).
Known limitations
- Videos: Embedded videos (e.g. the practice tour) do not yet have consistent subtitles or audio description. We are working on it.
- Embedded third-party systems: For online appointment booking and the online reception (ARZT DIREKT) as well as the phone assistant, our influence on accessibility is limited. We have made the providers aware of the requirements.
- Interactive elements: Some animations and interactive widgets are usable with screen readers in a simplified way, but are not optimised in every detail.
- PDF documents: Older downloadable forms are not yet consistently tagged for accessibility. On request you will receive any form in an accessible format or filled in at the practice.
Alternative access
If any content is not accessible to you, you will receive it another way — without disadvantage and without having to justify yourself. Call us on +49 7531 17666 or come by during our opening hours (Mon–Thu 8–18, Fri 8–12). We of course continue to book appointments by phone and in person.
Access means more than technology
For us, accessibility does not end at the source code. It starts at the door and in the consulting room.
People with disabilities — including invisible ones. Not every disability is visible. ADHD, autism, chronic fatigue, anxiety disorders, trauma: appointments can be adapted for these too. Tell us what you need — edge-of-day slots with less bustle, short waiting times, written instead of spoken explanations, an announcement of every examination step, a companion in the room, dimmed light, no surprises. That is not special treatment but good medicine: whoever feels safe can make better decisions.
Queer patients are welcome. We treat regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity. Tell us your name and pronoun — we use them, even if your insurance card says otherwise. Trans, inter and non-binary people find gynaecological care here without having to justify themselves; for questions beyond our specialty we refer into specialised networks. This is part of the truth too: we are a gynaecological practice with finite knowledge — if we cannot do something, we say so instead of improvising.
Diversity in the team. Diversity is not a poster in our waiting room but our staffing policy: we hire regardless of origin, religion, age, disability, orientation and identity — and design workplaces so that different people can work well in them.
If you encounter anything with us that contradicts this — in tone, in a form, at reception — tell us. That is exactly what the next section is for.
Feedback and contact
Have you encountered a barrier? Tell us — it is the fastest way for us to improve.
