The video consultation

Counselling, discussing results, follow-ups — much of it needs no journey. Some of our patients save 1–2 hours of travel this way. And just as honestly: some things still belong in the consulting room.

What the video consultation suits — and what not

  • Well suited: discussing results (labs, smear), counselling on contraception or hormones, follow-ups during ongoing treatment, prescription and therapy questions, second-opinion talks, a first assessment of unclear complaints
  • Not suited: anything needing examination — ultrasound, smear, palpation, acute severe pain or bleeding. No screen helps there; an appointment does.

Often the combination is smartest: a video appointment for assessment, and if needed the in-person visit targeted and well prepared — instead of coming twice the other way round.

How it works technically

You need a smartphone, tablet or computer with a camera — no app, no account: you receive a link before the appointment, click it at the agreed time and arrive in a certified, encrypted video service’s virtual waiting room. The doctor collects you there just like in the real one.

  • Choose a quiet, undisturbed place — this is health data
  • Have your insurance card ready; it is requested the first time
  • With technical problems: we simply call you — the appointment is not lost

Costs & framework

With a medical reason, the video consultation is a regular insured service — nothing is charged to you. For private patients the GOÄ applies as with in-person visits. Currently you book it by phone or via the online reception — just say you would like a video appointment and we find the right slot.

Frequent questions about the video consultation

Is the connection secure?

Yes — we use only video services certified for medical use with end-to-end encryption. Conversations are not recorded.

Can I start as a new patient via video?

For a first counselling talk, in principle yes. For full intake with examination we need you on site once — we tell you that honestly at booking.

What if the video call shows an examination is needed?

Then you get the in-person appointment straight out of the conversation — prioritised, because the assessment has already happened. Not a lost appointment, but a well-prepared examination.

Does it work from abroad?

Technically yes — legally it depends on your location and insurer. For counselling within the EU we usually find a solution; just ask us briefly before booking.
